Net Insight partners with NETINT to elevate Nimbra Edge with AI-powered video processing

Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight is taking a major step forward in enhancing its internet media transport solutions by partnering with NETINT Technologies to integrate their cutting-edge ASIC Smart VPU™ video processing chip with AI into the next release of Nimbra Edge. This integration marks a strategic expansion of Net Insight's capabilities, moving beyond transport to include advanced video processing and transcoding features directly within its platform.

Until now, Net Insight has been at the forefront of transport solutions, offering world-class and industry-leading technologies for high-quality content delivery. By incorporating NETINT's VPU technology, Nimbra Edge will now support real-time transcoding of AV1, HEVC, and H.264 codecs enabling customers to manipulate transport streams dynamically with a 10x efficiency advantage compared to software. This advancement eliminates the need for external transcoding solutions, streamlining workflows and enhancing operational efficiency. The new capabilities powered by NETINT's Smart VPU™ technology will be available in the next release of Nimbra Edge, set to launch in April 2025.

The addition of encoding and processing functionality aligns with Net Insight's broader strategy of delivering versatile, end-to-end media solutions. Supporting both on-premises and cloud-based processing, this integration lays the foundation for further expansion into primary distribution, while continuing to provide world-class contribution and production tools.

Further details on the technical aspects: this expanded capability includes frame rate conversion, bitrate compression, overlay insertion, deinterlacing, audio shuffling, and more. By integrating these features seamlessly, customers can automate intricate workflows without relying on additional third-party solutions. The result is a more agile, cost-effective, and scalable platform for broadcasters, media companies, and live event producers and streamers.

"We are excited to partner with Net Insight and bring our Smart VPU™ technology to Nimbra Edge," says Randal Horne, Chief Revenue Officer at NETINT Technologies. "This collaboration gives broadcasters and media companies the advantage they are seeking with high-performance transport and intelligent video transcoding and processing, enabling services to scale globally without reducing video quality or profitability."

"With NETINT's VPU cards, we are adding a powerful layer of functionality to Nimbra Edge," says Christer Bohm, VP Product Management at Net Insight. "Now, we don't just transport content — we enhance it. This allows us to automate complex workflows with intelligent, AI-driven processing, whether on-premises or in the cloud. It's a major leap towards providing a fully integrated media distribution solution."

Net Insight powered remote production for major winter sporting event in Asia

Stockholm, Sweden – A major winter sporting that took place in Asia in February was leveraging Net Insight's media transport solutions to deliver high-quality video services across the region. Net Insight received the order from the media production company Oranda in Singapore, specialists in live sports events, in Q1, 2025, strengthening and expanding the collaboration.

Net Insight secured this order for Nimbra 400 and Nimbra Edge, marking another step in its strategic initiative to increase the share of sales of unmanaged network services. Although the order value is modest, it represents recurring revenue with the potential to grow over time based on usage, aligning with the company's long-term commitment to delivering high-quality, flexible, and cost-efficient media transport over the internet.

Oranda utilized Net Insight's Nimbra Edge cloud networking solution alongside Nimbra 400 devices, ensuring seamless, reliable, and high-performance video distribution. Through its remote production facility in Singapore, Oranda managed ingress and egress of video feeds via Net Insight's Nimbra 400 devices, facilitating efficient content regionalization and distribution to broadcasters and rights holders across Asia. This setup ensured low-latency, high-quality, and cost-efficient content delivery, maximizing audience engagement for one of the most exciting winter sports events of the year.

"Net Insight's solution was instrumental in delivering seamless, high-quality remote production for this major winter sports event," says Floris Molijn, CEO | Managing Director at Oranda. "Their reliable and low-latency transport ensured that our production teams could operate with full confidence, no matter the distance. With Nimbra, we achieved unprecedented flexibility and efficiency, setting a new standard for live sports broadcasting."

"We were proud to support Oranda and the delivery of such a prestigious sporting event with solutions that are designed to meet the rigorous demands of live sports, ensuring audiences receive the best possible viewing experience," says Crister Fritzson, CEO of Net Insight. Net Insight and Riksteatern bring remote theatre production to life with live 3D animation

Net Insight

Net Insight and Riksteatern bring remote theatre production to life with live 3D animation

Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight and the Swedish National Touring Theatre, Riksteatern, are pushing the boundaries of performing arts with a pioneering remote production of the play "The Canterville Ghost", in both sign and spoken language. This unique family play, based on Oscar Wilde's classic tale, is being brought to life through a new use of live 3D animation and remote performance technology, powered by Net Insight's Nimbra solution.

In this production, the titular ghost was portrayed as a live 3D-animated avatar, performed in real-time by an actor wearing a motion capture suit. While the physical actors and audience were present at Sundsvall's Theater in Sweden, the ghost itself was acting in Botkyrka, Sweden, 400 km away interacting seamlessly with the cast on stage. This technological feat was made possible through Nimbra's ultra-low latency, high-quality media transport, ensuring a real-time, immersive experience for the audience.

Riksteatern, Sweden's leading producer of stage art, continues to pioneer innovative theater experiences that transcend physical and linguistic barriers. By leveraging Net Insight's remote production capabilities, The Canterville Ghost demonstrates how this technology can enhance artistic expression and bring new dimensions to live performances.

The collaboration with Riksteatern highlights how Net Insight's ultra-low latency technology is unlocking new business opportunities beyond sports, enabling innovative live experiences in theatre, concerts, corporate events, and other real-time productions. The play is produced by Riksteatern Crea in collaboration with the municipality of Sundsvall and part of Remote North's network project ANSEL, an Interreg Aurora project, co-funded by the EU.

"This project is a breakthrough for inclusive theater, and we are proud to work with Net Insight to make this happen," says Ann-Cathrine Fröjdö, project manager at Riksteatern. "By combining sign language performance with Net Insight's cutting-edge technology, we are not only reaching new audiences but also exploring new artistic expressions that were previously unimaginable."

"This production exemplifies the power of technology in modern theater," says Crister Fritzson CEO of Net Insight. "By enabling remote, real-time performances without compromising on quality or interaction, Nimbra is redefining what is possible in live entertainment."
