Net Insight and Globecast bolster global strategic partnership with latest IP deployment

Net Insight

Net Insight and Globecast bolster global strategic partnership with latest IP deployment

Stockholm, Sweden Net Insight today announces that its flagship product, Nimbra 1060, has been selected by Globecast, the global provider of integrated media solutions, to help enable the company's continuing transition from SDI to an IP-based infrastructure after its move to its new Westlake Village Studios facility in Los Angeles, CA. This is the latest in a series of implementations enabling Globecast and its customers to transition to next-generation IP workflows and is a testament to the long-standing partnership between the two companies.

Earlier this year, Globecast teamed up with Net Insight to expand its European fiber backbone – part of the company's global fiber network GCBN – to 100G to meet increasing bandwidth requirements. Net Insight's Nimbra 1060 delivered the core processing capability Globecast needed to ensure maximum quality via very low latency and the tight synchronization of feeds which are essential in edge processing for remote production.

Globecast's Westlake Village Studios facility leverages Net Insight's Nimbra 1060 platform to harness unparalleled scalability, flexibility, and reliability for Globecast's media transport operations. The platform is designed to support IP-based workflows, providing seamless integration with virtualized and cloud technologies. This partnership will enable Globecast to expand its service offerings and empower its customers to drive cost and operational efficiencies. Globecast anticipates completing the move to Westlake Village Studios by the end of Q1 2024.

"We're excited to be part of Globecast's transition to a next-generation IP-based media ecosystem," said Net Insight CEO Crister Fritzson. "IP opens the door to operational efficiencies and monetization opportunities for media operators and content providers. Our flagship solution is well-versed to enable industry players to innovate and get ahead of the curve."

"We have been working closely with Net Insight to empower industry players' seamless and efficient transition to IP-based workflows," said Chris Pulis, CTO at Globecast Americas. "IP and cloud technologies define the future of media. The advanced capabilities and robust performance of Net Insight's solutions will help us achieve greater service elasticity and operational efficiency, ensuring we continue to meet the highest quality standards for our customers."

Last year, France Télévisions leveraged the Globecast and Net Insight technology partnership to replace its legacy media contribution and distribution solution and manage permanent and occasional contribution feeds between local studios across nine territories and eight press agencies.

Come visit Globecast and Net Insight at NAB Show 2023 to discuss IP-based workflows.

Net Insight and Mo-Sys partners to showcase groundbreaking remote production at NAB Show 2023, revolutionizing global sports broadcasting

Stockholm, SwedenNet Insight and Mo-Sys proudly announce a next generation remote production demo being performed at NAB Show together with one of Net insight's customers, in Las Vegas on April 16-19. The solution demonstrates the next level in remote production allowing both production and camera crews to work remotely in a fully seamless manner, dramatically reducing cost and improving sustainability for the media industry.

Net insight, a leader in live media transport, and Mo-Sys, a world-renowned manufacturer of virtual production solutions and camera robotics, have partnered to provide a groundbreaking solution for the media industry that enables ultra-low latency and precise synchronization for controlling robotic camera heads in remote production. This innovative service solution empowers broadcasters and media companies to deliver high-quality content experiences to audiences worldwide with greater efficiency and reliability than ever before. The demo is performed with a global media service provider delivering thousands of remote productions annually, showcasing the cost- and sustainability benefits of full remote production workflows for sports events, allowing both production and camera crew to work remotely while maintaining full quality and control.

As a provider of innovative media solutions, Net Insight's Nimbra product family offers unique features that enable ultra-low latency and frame alignment, critical for applications that require precise timing and synchronization, such as controlling robotic camera heads with Mo-Sys solutions. These capabilities are made possible using advanced networking technologies and real-time monitoring tools that ensure high-quality, reliable, and secure delivery of media content across the global video connect managed media network offered by Net Insight's customer. The Mo-Sys solution together with the real-time properties of the Nimbra system, enable a camera operator to experience the sensation of directly manipulating and moving the camera and box lens by controlling the Mo-Sys U50 robotic head, remotely over the network.

On the other end, Mo-Sys integrates Vinten V750i as a remote pan-bar controller, which provides the operator with complete control over the weight and stiffness. As a result, the operator can replicate the familiar tactile sensation of working with a camera in an arena setting while controlling it from another location in the world.

"Our media delivery ecosystem empowers broadcasters and media companies to deliver engaging and immersive content experiences daily to audiences worldwide," says Christer Bohm, Vice President Product Management at Net Insight. "We continuously offer new innovations across the Media & Entertainment vertical with our market-leading product offerings, which are designed to meet the evolving needs of our customers."

"The Mo-Sys U50 offers precise remote control of cameras and box lenses, allowing camera operators to replicate the feel of moving the camera directly. This maximizes productivity, improves safety and comfort, and enables use with the latest AR and Virtual Production tools for even more creative possibilities. We're proud to offer this innovative solution for worldwide remote production to our customers," says Florian Gallier, Strategic Partnerships Manager at Mo-Sys Engineering.

Net Insight showcases integrated live ST 2110, JPEG XS and cloud workflows at NAB 2023

Net Insight

Net Insight showcases integrated live ST 2110, JPEG XS and cloud workflows at NAB 2023

Stockholm, SwedenNet Insight together with its solution partner Comprimato will be demonstrating the use of live JPEG XS compressed ST 2110 streams using TR07, transported over WAN (Wide Area Network) to cloud workflows at this year's NAB Show in Las Vegas. This bridges the gap between cloud and high-end IP workflows in a new way.

"We are excited to show how low latency live productions can be used with cloud infrastructure at NAB," says Kristian Mets, Head of Sales Development at Net Insight. "Our open standards-based media solution enables Tier 1 event organizers to handle increasing content needs while delivering the highest quality and lowest latency possible."

At the heart of the solution is Net Insight's Nimbra 1060 taking in ST 2110 video streams encoding them using ultra-low latency JPEG XS and sending them as TR07 streams directly into the cloud where it's transcoded and transported to the recipients using the cloud-native Nimbra Edge platform residing in Oracle cloud. This opens up new Tier 1 media cloud productions, leveraging cloud resources for the highest flexibility and efficiency.

Net Insight showcases TR07 interworking by sending the streams from Nimbra 1060 to Comprimato's cloudbased Live Transcoder connected to Nimbra Edge for further delivery into cloud production and distribution workflows. This powerful combination offers a direct route connection from ST 2110 on-prem equipment to the cloud, where high-end cloud production and adaptation can take place. In addition, the Live Transcoder is further used in a live demo together with Nimbra Edge to demonstrate a seamless NDI (Network Device Interface) workflow in and out of the cloud, enabling NDI productions with global connectivity.

The TR07 solution is perfectly suited to the needs of Tier 1 event organizers that want to leverage the flexibility and efficiency of cloud/data centers. With content needs that increase with every event and budget constraint, catering to ST 2110 production resources at arena sites can be a challenge. The solution works seamlessly with both ST 2110 and SDI cameras.

The benefits of the new solution are many. The approach offers the best available codec and latency, streaming Tier 1 content directly into the cloud enabling cost-efficient production and cloud distribution, all powered by the cloud-native Nimbra Edge platform. With just a few clicks, customers can route its content anywhere in the world.

Net Insight is showcasing this innovative solution at NAB Show 2023 at booth W1725 together with Comprimato (booth W2378) and looks forward to sharing it with customers and partners looking for a cutting-edge solution that addresses their next generation's demands.
