Nimbra Edge enables simplified and smarter cloud media transport for Globecast

Stockholm, Sweden – Globecast has expanded its use of Net Insight's Nimbra technology by deploying Nimbra Edge, significantly streamlining its media transport operations. This highlights how Net Insight's technology for unmanaged* networks enables media service providers to optimize resources while ensuring top quality and security. The order falls within one of Net Insight's growth areas, solutions for unmanaged networks. It's a strong reflection of the company's increasing focus on this expanding segment with high potential.

Globecast has long relied on Nimbra products to manage media flows for both ad-hoc events and static deployments. By integrating Nimbra Edge, Globecast is achieving a transformative reduction in operational complexity, empowering a larger pool of staff to seamlessly support media transport from any location.

Key to the optimization is the combination of Nimbra Edge and Edge Connect, an application to transport live streams from and to Nimbra Edge, which enables rapid and secure deployment of media gateways. Once connected to the internet, Nimbra Edge automatically detects and integrates these gateways through a secure, encrypted channel. This allows operators, whether on-site or remote, to configure and manage media services via a simple, secure user interface or automate workflows through a REST API.

Nimbra Edge is designed as a scalable cloud-based solution with strong growth prospects over time as customers expand usage across events, locations, and services, supporting the company's long-term, sustainable growth.

"With Nimbra Edge, we have taken a major step forward in operational efficiency," says Eddie Ferraro, Managing Director at Globecast Americas. "The automation and remote management capabilities enable us to support events with greater flexibility while ensuring the security and reliability our customers expect. This deployment comes at a perfect time as we officially open for business in our new home in, Westlake Village, California. The move was completed without impacting our 24/7 broadcast operations. It has also created exciting new business opportunities as we transition to an IP infrastructure including ST-2110."

"Working closely with Globecast to simplify and scale their operations is truly rewarding. Their adoption of Nimbra Edge is a great example of how our technology helps media service providers optimize their resources while maintaining the highest standards of quality and security," says Crister Fritzson CEO of Net Insight. "At Net Insight, we are committed to enabling our customers with solutions that simplify workflows and enhance operational agility."

To learn more about Nimbra Edge and Globecast's deployment please visit Net Insight's booth W1425 and Globecast's booth W2559 at NAB Show 2025 on April 6–9, 2025.

Net Insight launches Facility Connect for seamless multi-facility broadcast workflows

Net Insight

Net Insight launches Facility Connect for seamless multi-facility broadcast workflows

Stockholm, Sweden – Net Insight launches Facility Connect, a powerful new solution designed to streamline and enhance multi-facility broadcast workflows. Facility Connect provides a robust, scalable, and efficient way to connect broadcast facilities, unlocking the full potential of IP-based production and ensuring seamless interoperability between locations.

Key players in the live media ecosystem rely on multiple facilities to ensure redundancy, scalability, and operational efficiency. By distributing production across various locations, it is possible to optimize resources, enhance resilience against outages, and enable regionalized content delivery. Facility Connect simplifies these operations by providing seamless IP media connectivity across dispersed facilities, supporting large-scale productions, remote collaboration, and dynamic resource allocation.

The shift towards IP-based broadcasting, driven by industry standards such as TR-07, SMPTE ST 2110 and NMOS, has transformed traditional workflows by enabling:

  • Dynamic resource allocation – Balancing workloads across facilities for optimal infrastructure utilization.
  • Remote collaboration – Enabling teams to access, edit, and distribute content in real time, from any location.
  • Scalability and flexibility – Adapting quickly to new production needs without physical constraints.
  • Cost efficiency – Reducing duplication and maximize resource efficiency through centralized content management.
  • Improved disaster recovery – Redundant infrastructure ensuring business continuity in case of failures.
  • Seamless Interoperability – Managing media streams efficiently across different network environments.

While multi-facility workflows offer numerous benefits, they also present challenges such as latency, synchronization, data management complexity, and network reliability. Facility Connect is built for efficient IP media management integrating advanced media transport features to support modern workflows based on up to multiple 100G connectivity. By adhering to SMPTE RP 2129 and ST 2110 standards, it ensures seamless interoperability and high-performance connectivity across broadcast centers.

Beyond standard IP media connectivity, Facility Connect adds robust transport capabilities to meet the high demands of premium content. With comprehensive monitoring of all streams at every processing point, broadcasters gain unparalleled visibility into their operations, simplifying fault investigation, especially in environments utilizing third-party WAN interconnections.

"Facility Connect empowers broadcasters with a more efficient and reliable way to manage multi-facility operations. By addressing the complexities of IP-based production, it enables seamless connectivity, optimized workflows, and greater resilience across locations," says Kristian Mets, Global Head of Sales Business Development at Net Insight.

For more information about Facility Connect and how it enhances multi-facility broadcast workflows, please visit Net Insight's booth W1425 at NAB Show 2025 on April 6–9, 2025.
